I get a real buzz out of finding rare and unusual items, acquiring them and on-selling them to future owners. My sales are mainly online with some sold to customers who are visiting to collect their on-line purchases. As this is my full-time job I answer all questions promptly.

I guarantee the freight, so if something goes missing, or arrives damaged, I always offer a full refund as well as some other negotiated settlement.  As LV Martin used to say in his TV adverts, ‘It’s the putting right that counts’. To overcome the possibility of damage in transit I overpack the china into oversized boxes, often double boxed for extra protection.

My mother started work in an old-fashioned china shop as her first job out of school. When the kids started arriving, she had accumulated quite a bit of fine china and the love for china never left her. Quite a bit got broken with four boys running around so in later years we made a habit of trying to replace some of these items. From this grew my interest in fine china and curiosities.

For many years I managed a photography shop, in the days before digital cameras. I have maintained this interest in all things photographic, especially film photography.

When the opportunity came my way to be self-employed buying and selling fine china, cameras and other curios I grabbed it with both hands, using Trademe as a shop front. This website is a natural progression in moving away from being totally reliant on Trademe.

My impression of antique shops has long been that they tend to be overpriced. I can sell cheaper than antique shops and second-hand shops, because my overheads are minimal as I work from home. I try to carry unusual and interesting pieces as well as the usual Royal Albert and more common fine bone china.
